Profile Summary
For over nine years, James has worked in clinical settings, primarily serving new immigrants, couples and vulnerable populations of youth and their families who face challenges such as mental illnesses, special educational needs, family conflicts, addictions, and criminal behaviours. Throughout his work, James has developed a strong understanding of the developmental needs of youth and families and has gained valuable experience in strengthening parent-child relationships.
James believes that every person has unique strengths and resources and that everyone can learn and grow from the challenges they face. His goal is to help his clients develop a deeper sense of self-awareness, increase their self-esteem, improve their decision-making abilities, take personal responsibility for their actions, and achieve a sense of inner congruence.
Approach to Therapy
To achieve the goals mentioned above, James employs an integrative approach that incorporates integrative therapeutic modalities, including Emotionally Focused Therapy, the Satir Growth Model, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focus Brief Therapy and Trauma-Informed Practice. Through collaborative work, James strives to create a safe and supportive environment where his clients feel comfortable exploring their innermost thoughts and feelings, utilizing their strengths and resources to navigate the challenges they encounter.
